On November 7, 2022, the Administrative Office of the United States Courts (AO) deployed OSCAR release 3.0 with a number of enhancements for applicants.

Release 3.0 Changes for Applicants

New Position Type - Court Law Clerk

OSCAR adds the "Court Law Clerk" clerkship type to support hiring of term law clerks who work on behalf of the court and not chambers. Like the existing Bankruptcy Appellate Panel (BAP) Law Clerk, Pro Se Law Clerk, or Death Penalty Law Clerk types, Court Law Clerk positions will be posted under a chief judge's account.

"Not Tagged" Filter

Applicants receive a new filter option on their Positions List. Applicants can now select "Not Tagged" in the Tags filter to display only positions that they have not tagged.

Self-Deactivation for Applicant Accounts

Applicants can now easily deactivate their own accounts under Profile > My Account in the main navigation menu. Deactivating an applicant account automatically deletes the applicant's profile, application documents, and applications. Additionally, the applicant will no longer receive any OSCAR email. Deactivated accounts cannot be restored.

Current Number of Years of Law School Grades Is Required

Applicants are now required to make a selection in their OSCAR profile for Current Number of Years of Law School Grades. Applicants who have not made a selection will be taken to their profile upon logging into OSCAR, where they must make a selection to continue using OSCAR.

Saved Search Improvements

OSCAR improves the interface to make applying a saved search more intuitive. For more information on saved searches, read this help article.
